TEACHING (PEDAGOGY)
My teaching philosophy for piano teaching is rather simple:

I don't teach piano. I teach students.

This means my teaching aims to focus on the student as a whole. It aims to help grow their musical understanding, expression, and appreciation (their "musicality").

The piano is simply the medium on which they achieve that.
WHO
Have taught ages 5 - 65; beginners to Grade 8 (AMEB and ABRSM); boys and girls; casual and serious learners; siblings and twins (still individual class)
WHAT
Beginner (Piano Adventures or Poco); AMEB Syllabus; ABRSM Syllabus; Music Theory (AMEB & ABRSM); VCE piano; Beginner cello
HOW
Student-centred; holistic; firm but non-strict; visual demonstration; auditory live feedback (e.g. singing or tapping); kinaesthetic practice; expression through imagination
WHY
"It is fitting to thank the LORD, and to sing praises to your name, O sovereign One!
It is fitting to proclaim your loyal love in the morning, and your faithfulness during the night,Â
to the accompaniment of the ten-stringed instrument and lyre, to the accompaniment of the meditative tone of the harp."
- Psa 92:1-3
WHEN
When a child reaches ~5 years, it is a good time to start learning.
